Hee, _that_ would be cool! With interviews, artist introductions, top 10's and all! ;)

Archive.org probably has enough bandwith to host one icecast stream? ;)

the archive has bandwidth to burn. We only put out 3TB of stuff a day and we are paying for 5TB of bandwidth (500Mb/sec). Pls help us fill it up!

The thing we are short on is programmer help. If others can help with icecast streams etc, then that would be a great help.

Oh wow! Someone to write press releases to attract mp3.com refugees maybe *would* be a good idea! :)

I think one of the issues with attracting MP3.com refugees right now is that, short of creating a collection per artist, which is clearly impractical, there's no good way to present a growing collection of songs within Open-Source Audio, if you're an artist who wants to upload. Well, you can do a 'search by artist' by clicking on artist name:

http://www.archive.org/audio/audio-searchresults.php?search=%22Loach%22&field=author&submit=moreAuthor

..but it's neither fully-featured nor attractive, compared to alternatives out there (iuma, etc) where each artist gets their own editable page.

We're circumventing this with a collection per label for netlabels, who tend to have a lot more throughput, but this is worth bearing in mind for the inevitable nextversionofthewebsite(tm). :P

However, it'd be great to get more fully-featured streaming, possibly allowing for dial-up as well as DSL/cable users - though I'd love to get the on-demand streaming problems fixed first!
